STAYING SAFE AT THE ROYSTON
As a small independent business, we are passionate about keeping The Royston safe for all our guests and staff and need your support to do this.
If you have a booking with us and are unwell or live or work in an area that is in, or about to enter lockdown or high risk we’re really sorry, but we do have to ask you to please get in contact to postpone your booking with us until the area you live or work in is no longer classed as any of the above. If you do need to amend your booking we will do all we can to rearrange your stay with as little drama as possible and can reassure you that you will not incur any booking amend nor cancellation fees.
Stay with us with confidence. The UK-wide ‘we’re good to go’ industry standard mark means that we are following government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, have a risk assessment in place and a process to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing. We’re one of nearly 1500 businesses in Wales to receive certification so far.
Below you’ll find the specifics on how we’re planning to keep you, our guest house and our local community, safe.
Here’s what you can expect?
KEEPING IT CLEAN
Cleanliness has always been a top priority and we’re committed to keeping it that way. All rooms will be deep cleaned and sanitised between each stay.
Hand sanitiser will be readily available throughout our guest house, so please help yourself as often as you need.
We’ll be adhering to guidelines and paying extra attention to all the commonly used items in your room by replacing all mugs, water bottles and glasses. We’ll be thoroughly sanitizing soap dispensers and wiping down light switches, coffee machines and door handles etc. until they’re squeaky clean.
You’ll see us more often in high traffic areas, cleaning and sanitising high touch items that need a bit of extra attention.
We promise to keep it brief and have your keys sanitized and ready for your arrival.
For our safety and all of our guests, we hope you won’t be offended, but we will be checking everyone’s temperature on arrival using a non contact infrared thermometer. Any guests with a temperature of 37.8 and above will be unable to check in.
You will need to wear a face covering in all communal areas, including corridors, stairs and boot room.
The guest contact details you have provided prior to arrival and check in will be used to support contact tracing if someone does fall ill.
To minimize the risk of infection and to ensure our rooms are fully aerated and thoroughly disinfected before the next guests arrive, we have altered our check in and check out times to 10.30am check out and 3 – 7pm check in. Please let us know in advance if you plan to arrive after 7pm. We’re sorry to say that currently, we may not be able to offer early check in nor late check outs.
We’ll be giving you a bit of extra space, by asking you to take your own luggage to your room.
Hoping for a handshake? So are we, but you’ll have to excuse us when we politely decline.
IN YOUR ROOM
Our in-house guides have been removed, but we can send you a digital copy if you want to have a read.
All local guides have been quarantined for 72 hours between each guest.
We will reduce the number of soft furnishings in bedrooms.
All our bedroom linen continues to be laundered offsite following all COVID-19 guidelines.
In an effort to minimise people coming in and out of your room, bedrooms will be cleaned prior to your arrival & after check-out only. Additional housekeeping will be available upon request for guests staying 3 nights or longer.
To reduce interaction, we will charge your card on the day of departure for your accommodation and any additional items that you’ve had.
When you check out, please leave your key in your room.
WHILE YOU’RE HERE
The honesty bar will still be open, but we ask you to always wear a mask, use the hand sanitiser provided and anti bacterial wipes both before and after preparing your drinks. You will not be able to consume alcohol from the honesty bar between 10pm & 6am.
So we don’t have to limit the use of the guest lounge during busy periods, we would ask you to always respect social distancing rules.
BREAKFAST AND DINNER
To adhere to physical distancing recommendations, tables will be staggered with a pre allocated time slot.
We’ll be introducing pre-ordering for both breakfast and dinner.
Please note that dinner will only be available for 3 pre-booked tables per night.
Breakfast times will be pre allocated :
Dinner Times: 2 bookings per night only – 7.30 and 8.00 (advanced booking & menu choices required).
To allow extra time to air and deep clean our dining room, we currently do not serve dinners on Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday evenings.
Menus will be available digitally, as well as wipe clean copies in your room.
With many local pubs and restaurants now offering takeaways, extra outdoor tables have been added for you to pre-book, weather permitting (it is Wales!).

Signage will remind you to keep your distance in our public areas – please always be mindful of others.
If you’re feeling unwell or have any coronavirus symptoms while at The Royston, we would ask you to please make your way home immediately and inform either Clive or Rob via text as soon as possible.

We have given a lot of thought to making your stay with us as safe as possible, so please help us to help you by playing by the rules.
We will be wearing the appropriate PPE when required, for your safety and ours.
BOOKING WITH CONFIDENCE
What happens if you need to cancel?
If you need to amend or cancel your booking due to covid-19, you will not lose any money. We will transfer your booking to another suitable date, offer you a virtual refund voucher to use later or if you’d rather cancel your booking outright, we will happily refund your payment in full.

Our part of Wales has always been a place where people come to find peace and calm. Despite the necessary safety precautions, we’ll still be striving for the same relaxed and friendly vibe we’re renowned for at The Royston, with a level of service you deserve, albeit remotely or from a distance.
We will be continuously reviewing our procedures in line with any updated guidelines and will update this page as necessary.
